Pumpkin Picking Season on the East End
With the leaves beginning to change colors, it is officially autumn here in the Hamptons and the many local farms and country markets are celebrating the new season with an array of fall festivities. From pumpkin picking to corn mazes and hayrides, there are endless opportunities for fall fun here on the East End. The following are just a few of the local farms where you can enjoy pumpkin picking and other seasonal activities.
Fairview Farm | Bridgehampton
Enjoy fall fun at Fairview Farm located on Horsemill Lane in Bridgehampton. Throughout October, you can enjoy pumpkin-picking on Thursdays – Sundays at this family-run farm. The main attraction at Fairview Farm, however, is the 8-acre corn MAiZE with nearly two miles of paths. Spend the afternoon wondering through paths shaped like a surfer as well as sea creatures with opportunities to enjoy beautiful views of the nearby Mecox Bay and Atlantic Ocean. While visiting Fairview, you must also be sure to try one of Meredith’s famous homemade pies with many delicious kinds to choose from.
Fink’s Country Farm | Wading River
Celebrate fall at Fink’s Country Farm with pumpkin-picking available throughout the week. The farm’s Fall Festival will also be held every weekend between September 14 – October 27 with a wide range of activities for the entire family to enjoy. The festival features an animal farm, bounce houses, live music, pony rides, hay rides and a 5-acre corn maze among many other things. Enjoy food and refreshments including roasted corn and be sure to visit the farm stand as well for locally grown fruits and vegetables.
Gabrielsen’s Country Farm | Jamesport
For fall fun throughout the week, visit Gabrielsen’s Country Farm in Jamesport on the North Fork. In addition to pumpkin picking, Gabrielsen’s farm offers bouncy houses, a corn crib, kiddie maze, a giant pumpkin, farm animals, a giant games area and pedal tractors for the kids. There is even more entertainment to enjoy on the weekends with unlimited hay rides and Choo Choo Train rides as well as live music. Check out Gabrielsen’s farm and flower stand for everything from fresh lemonade and apple cider to fall decorations for your home.
Hank’s Pumpkintown | Water Mill
One of the most popular pumpkin-picking spots in the Hamptons is Hank’s Pumpkintown in Water Mill. Hank’s offers 30 acres of fall activities for the entire family including wagon rides, tractor train rides, a pedal cart race track and a kids’ bounce area and playground. Hank’s also features 3 different corn mazes for all ages to enjoy. All of your favorite fall treats are available at The Market including apple cider, roasted corn, pumpkin donuts and fresh baked pies.
Harbes Family Farm | Mattituck, Jamesport & Riverhead
With three different locations on the North Fork, Harbes Family Farm offers more than 25 acres of fields with a variety of pumpkins for you to pick off the vine. All three Harbes locations in Mattituck, Jamesport and Riverhead also feature corn mazes for the kids and you can enjoy a range of fall treats including hot apple cider, candy apples and Harbes signature apple cider donuts. If you are bringing the kids, be sure to visit the Harbes Barnyard Adventure in Mattituck with a playground, farm animals, hayrides and a wide variety of kids’ games and activities.
Helen’s Pumpkin Farm | Aquebogue
With the largest pumpkin fields on the North Fork, Helen’s Pumpkin Farm is a hidden gem for fall fun. Throughout the season, Helen’s will feature a corn maze and will also offer horse-drawn hayrides on the weekends. Visit the snack shack for fall treats inside Helen’s new farm market where you can also purchase beautiful fall flowers and fresh, local vegetables.
May’s Farm | Wading River
Spend a fall afternoon picking out the perfect pumpkin at May’s Farm in Wading River. Hayrides are available on the weekends and be sure to give May’s Amazing Corn Maze a go while enjoying music from Banjo Warren. On select weekends, May’s Farm also offers pony rides, face painting and pumpkin decorating for the kids. Be sure to visit May’s Greenhouse with a wide selection of autumn and Halloween decorations as well as seasonal vegetables.
Stakey’s Pumpkin Farm | Aquebogue
Stakey’s Pumpkin Farm in Aquebogue is a well-known destination for pumpkin-picking with more than 25 acres of fields and 18 varieties of pumpkins. Enjoy a hayride through the fields before exploring the 3-acre corn maze. Stakey’s also offers a Scooby Doo Bounce House and face painting for the kids. Stop by Stakey’s Country Store and Flower House on your way out to pick up fall decorations for your home.
