Full Moon Guided Hike

October 26th, 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm
Celebrate the full moon with a nighttime hike through the forest and up to North Pond as we look and listen for nocturnal creatures, and enjoy some night vision activities under the light of the moon.

Enchanted Forest Trail Walk

October 28th, 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm
Follow your guide on the Enchanted Forest Trail to meet whimsical, fun, and educational characters. Call to register (631) 653-4771.

Rites of Spring Music Concert

November 4th, 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm
QWR is honored to host RoSMC, designed to explore the many dimensions of the East End of Long Island with a combination of music, history, and our natural environment. This concert will feature music by harpist THISTLE, a Chamber Folk Trio that performs the original music of harpist and vocalist Thistle Jemison. The music program unveils the intimate relationships between location, nature, soundscape, water element, and the myth. Reservations required. Details here.

Hudsy 5K Run/Walk: Honoring Joan Hudson

December 2nd, 9:00 am
The first 150 registered race participants will receive a long sleeve t-shirt and those who register 3 weeks in advance will receive personalized bibs. Runners (and walkers) will be able to see live text and email results, and will also receive free finish line photos. Register here.

Author Talk by Kelly Bennett

October 25th, 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Join the Quogue Library for a special reading and author talk with Kelly Bennett, author of The House That Ruth Built, a non-fiction picture book about the April 18, 1923 opening day game at Yankee Stadium and Babe Ruth’s historic home run.

The Great Give Back

Donations for Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation until November 1st
Now through November 1st, the Quogue Library is continuing to collect donations as part of The Great Give Back, an annual day of service where public libraries help out a foundation or charity. This year the Library will be assisting the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation. They will be collecting dry pet food, pet supplies, blankets, and pet toy donations through the end of October.

Art Gallery Exhibit

On display through November 15th, Fundraiser November 24th
The Art Gallery at the Library is continuing the exhibition of works by Melissa Hackett, a New York- and Southampton-based painter and printmaker. Please note that the Gallery will be hosting a Holiday Fundraiser on Friday, November 24th, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, with the sale of paintings and photos from over 75 local artists and photographers.

Foreign Policy Discussion on Climate Migration

November 4th, 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm
As climate change accelerates and drought and rising sea levels become more common, millions of people in affected regions must uproot themselves and seek safety elsewhere. Who are these affected individuals, and how might the United States aid them, and be affected by the migration?

Colonial Turkey Dinner

November 8th, 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm
Join Chef Brian Collins and enjoy a Turkey Dinner with foods that your great-great-grandfather would have eaten. Oyster dressing (a Colonial Long Island favorite) and market vegetables prepared in the colonial style will also be served. Advanced registration needed. Full event calendar here.

Pond House Museum

Open Fridays, 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and Saturdays, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Called the Pond House because of its proximity to the pond at the corner of Midland and Jessup Avenues, the building provides two floors of exhibition space; climate controlled storage of the Society’s collections of artifacts, photographs, and documents; research facilities, and administrative offices.

One-Room Schoolhouse

Open during Library Hours
Constructed in 1822, this structure served as Quogue’s inaugural schoolhouse and is believed to be the most ancient one still standing in Suffolk County. Today, as a museum, it showcases a range of exhibits that highlight Quogue’s rich early history. Learn more here.
