Your Guide to Long Island’s East End Beaches

When you think about summer in the Hamptons, the beach undoubtedly comes to mind. Ranked as some of the best in the country, Hamptons’ beaches draw crowds of visitors from all over the world every summer. From Westhampton Beach all the way east to Montauk, there are miles of sandy beaches to enjoy. The following are just a few of our favorite East End spots for some coastal fun.

Cupsogue Beach – Westhampton Beach

Experience the beauty of the west end of the Hamptons at Cupsogue Beach located in Westhampton Beach. This county park offers something for everyone with campsites, 4×4 drive on access and ample parking for both residents and visitors. Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean as well as Moriches Bay and Moriches inlet, you can enjoy gorgeous views of the water on all sides. Moriches Bay is especially beautiful with the sun setting behind it during the summer months. Live music is held on the pier throughout the summer and be sure to enjoy a mudslide from the Tiki Joe’s concession stand. Parking does fill up quickly, though, so be sure to arrive early.

Quogue Village Beach – Quogue

About 10 miles east of Cupsogue Beach along Dune Road is the Quogue Village Beach. If you are looking for a relaxing beach day without the crowds, this is the place to be. Amenities at the Village Beach include restrooms, showers, and concessions. It is also the perfect family beach with a playground for the kids to enjoy. While Quogue Village Beach is private and reserved for local residents only, guest passes to this beach are provided when you stay with us at The Quogue Club.

Tiana Beach – Hampton Bays

Further east from Quogue, Tiana Beach in Hampton Bays has been ranked among the best beaches in New York State according to USA Today. Tiana Beach is a local gem with many amenities including concessions, showers, and picnic tables, but is typically less crowded than other East End beaches, making it a perfect location for a relaxing day. Tiana Beach also comes alive at night with volleyball leagues on their numerous courts.

Ponquogue Beach – Hampton Bays

Take a drive over the Ponquogue Bridge with gorgeous views of Shinnecock Bay to visit Ponquogue Beach in Hampton Bays. With a newly renovated pavilion featuring an extended ramp to the beach, additional outdoor seating, new bathrooms and rain gardens, Ponquogue has all the amenities you need for a full day at the beach with the family. Ponquogue Beach is also a popular location for surfing and fishing on the East End.

Cooper’s Beach – Southampton

One of the most well-known beaches on the East End is Cooper’s Beach in Southampton. With a beautiful stretch of white sandy shores lined by oceanfront mansions, Cooper’s Beach has been recognized as one of the top beaches in the country several times. From families to surfers, Cooper’s Beach is a wonderful playground for everyone. Cooper’s also offers a variety of entertainment throughout the summer with live music as well as drive-in movies in the parking lot. Beach services include chair and umbrella rentals, a bathhouse and concessions. While parking is a bit pricey, it is well worth it with everything you need for a spectacular beach day.

Main Beach – East Hampton

As Cooper’s Beach is to Southampton, Main Beach is to East Hampton. Its pristine shoreline overlooked by large estates has also earned it recognition as one of the top beaches in the country. The Pavilion at Main Beach provides many amenities including a snack bar, restrooms and showers making it the ideal location to spend a long day at the beach. Many visitors also enjoy its close proximity to the Village of East Hampton, just a short drive to shopping boutiques, art galleries, restaurants and a movie theater.

Foster Memorial Beach – Sag Harbor

If you prefer a quiet day at the bay over the ocean waves, Foster Memorial Beach, also known as Long Beach, in Sag Harbor is a wonderful spot for a beach day. This mile-long stretch of sand along Noyac Bay is especially popular for families with its calm waters and easy access to the beach. Picnic facilities and restrooms are also available. Stay until sun down and enjoy amazing views of the sunset over the water.

Meschutt Beach – Hampton Bays

Located just east of the canal in Hampton Bays, Meschutt Beach is another popular location for those looking to enjoy a day on the bay. Meschutt Beach offers a lively atmosphere with boats coming and going from the canal and Tiki Joe’s Beach Club serving up food and drinks all day. The small bay waves, picnic area and playground make this spot the perfect family-friendly beach as well. Additionally, it is a special treat to visit Meschutt Beach in the evenings with live music, dancing and gorgeous views of the sunset over the water.
